Joy to Job and Blackline Safety Help Students Explore Career Pathways

Blackline SafetyLeader in Connected Gas Detection & Lone Worker Safety September 20, 2021

Partnership supports monthly webinar series connecting students with working professionals

Calgary, Canada—Joy to Job and Blackline Safety Corp. (TSX: BLN) today announced a new sponsorship agreement to help secondary students across the province answer that crucial question: What am I going to do after high school?

Blackline Safety, a technology company specializing in connected safety solutions, will support Joy to Job’s monthly webinar series, and its people will speak on panels talking about their own career pathways. The webinars provide a forum for students to ask questions of working professionals and get answers grounded in firsthand experience, helping them gain confidence in what they want to pursue after graduation.

“What makes Joy to Job special is the authentic conversations that stem from their initiative which is student-run and student-moderated,” said Cody Slater, Chief Executive Officer and Chair, Blackline Safety

“We are pleased to support this organization that aligns with our values, and one of our ESG focus areas — the promotion of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) initiatives with youth.”

“Eighty-six percent of students prefer to talk to real professionals rather than research online when exploring career options,” said Grace Attalla, Co-Founder and Head of Growth, Joy to Job.

“Blackline Safety’s sponsorship—alongside the opportunity to have their leaders participate in our webinars — helps us in our goal to provide students with realistic information about jobs straight from the professionals in them, so they can get an idea about what the work and career path is really about.

Over the past year, Joy to Job has hosted seven webinars each one focused on a specific field: engineering, business entrepreneurship, fine arts, health sciences and medicine, humanities and social sciences, sciences and computer and technology. Collectively the webinars have connected 419 students from 79 different schools in 27 cities with 31 panelists across these fields.
